This was an excellent read.
It's a horror story described as Lord of the Flies meets the Exorcist.
At St. Vincent's Orphanage, in 1905, the Sheriff, arrives one night seeking the help of the Priest, a former field surgeon, with a severely injured man.
The man isn't just wounded, though, and when he passes, he releases something into the orphanage that will burn through it like a barrel of kerosene.
There were so many different themes woven together here to create an excellent story. Grief, vengeance, hatred, and forgiveness.
It speaks of the power that doubt and hatred can hold over us and how faith and forgiveness can help guide people into greatness.
It also reminds us that sacrifices through acts of kindness and love can move mountains.
