The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

slow-paced

4.5

Im not sure why I loved this book as much as I did
The story telling is very slow, but at the same time I was engaged and enjoyed reading it. It did fell very nostalgic- if it makes sense like my grandparents where telling a story.
Plot line- very cliche (very smart kid—>parents tragic death —>orphan->magic school—> best in magic school—>fights pipe line) but still manages to have some twists and leaves you invested in the story

The women in the book are just objects, and flat of character. There is no redeeming this and why it isn’t rated 5⭐️ for me. The women are complemented on their appearance first then disregarded, the argument could be made that it is from the perspective of a teenage boy, but it is over looking the fact that women hold no position of authority, power, respect or highregard throughout the book, they stay in the background low in numbers and low in station. Often viewed as having to be 'saved'- even the love interest.

Everything about the book in general should back it a slow boring or average read but somehow against the odds it isn’t. I couldn’t stop reading it once I started, and I enjoyed how everyone ties together without being overly obvious or in your face.
