There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

3.0

A serial killer targeting high schoolers? Makani has a dark past in Hawaii that she thought she left behind, but it seems like trouble follows her.

Whew. This one is definitely a horror read. Somehow I thought this was a young adult book? Maybe because it is centered around high schoolers but there is no way this is for young adults. This book is full of gruesome murders... which makes it the perfect read for Spook-tober (if you are into that short of thing).

I enjoyed reading this book as it was a super quick read. However, it had a heavy romance plot for being in the horror genre. I also didn't love that the reader knows who the killer is but has no connection to him? There's just something odd that I can't quite put into words about this book. But I did love Makani and how the author made me feel so connected to the main characters.

Because it was based on high schoolers, it also felt young. I also feel like a grandma now because I am always shocked when high schoolers are drinking alcohol and having sex like it's nothing. I spent most of my high school years hanging out at Walmart for fun...
