Dark fairytale with an evil sorceress mom and a sweet daughter trying to survive her! Plot was slow and lacking for me — I thought it would be a bit more magical. Abuse was a central theme.

I did not know the original fairytale this was based on, but I love horses and hate the plot with the horse character. I actually bought this book because of the beautiful OwlCrate edition with the horse on the cover. 🥴 That cover also has a castle and pink tones on it, which suggests a very different vibe…

TW: Mother’s abuse to daughter (major theme), murder, animal abuse, self-harm
