The Satisfaction Café by Kathy Wang
4.0
This was a fast paced, interesting book. It definitely did not go the way anyone would expect, and I loved Joan for everything she went through and how it shaped her, but did not define her. She showed her strong and savvy side right away and I was proud of all the times she stuck up for herself, even if it was against expectations (especially as a woman). Her story was heartbreaking, but the way she took care of her children and turned everything into her dreams was wonderful. I LOVE the idea of the Satisfaction Cafe and reading about it was my favorite part. Her kids also went through some dark and tough things and I appreciated how the author did not make everything roses and easy to just "get past". This author definitely has a unique voice and I can't wait to read more!
