Are You Afraid of the Dark?
by Sidney Sheldon
This book pulled me in pretty quickly. Who doesn't go for a novel where people are getting murdered in rapid succession for no apparent reason? Inquiring minds want to know. Unfortunately, that's kind of the book's peak. On the plus side, Sidney Sheldon provides a relatively smooth sled ride on the way down. His writing is very easy to get through, and there's bits of action through.
The book just kind of becomes redundant. How many times and how many different ways can two women just barely cheat death? How many times can an angry man say he will "get those bitches"? How many times can he insist that this time he means it? The plot starts to slide away from innovative heroines and more toward absurd luck. It's a fun read for what it is; nothing more.
