If I Stopped Haunting You by Colby Wilkens

3.0

There was a lot to love about this book from the characters themselves to the blending of horror, romance, and comedy. I loved the mix of humour within a creepy castle atmosphere - it was a scene well set and I'm hoping to read more like it in the future.

I did struggle with a few things though that keep me from giving a higher rating. The amount of internal dialogue and debate was difficult for me to push through; I don't think I followed the how/why when it came to the intensity of their feelings both good and bad. While each character was interesting, the shifting of their relationship didn't feel natural and I didn't enjoy being in their heads this much.

I am a sucker for a good spooky setting though, and that part of the story was very well written in my opinion. The ghost felt threatening and the backstory pulled me in, but the progression and resolution fell short. I'm still not really sure what happened with the haunting and ghosts in the end and that left me wanting something more for that part of the storyline.

It was an easy, enjoyable offbeat read and I'm looking forward to finding future works by Colby Wilkins! Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC opportunity to review this title.
