The Power of Myth
by Joseph Campbell, Bill Moyers
A young friend read The Power of Myth recently and she found it to be eye opening. I was reminded that although I 'know' Joseph Campbell's work, I hadn't read this classic book.
It's a brilliant and wide ranging book, and it's been a timely read, offering insight into ways of thinking I had recently noticed were too absent in my life lately. Four stars because I also bogged down in the exchanges between Campbell and Bill Moyers, finding the narrative to be slow going. I often found myself wondering what I would read next in this vein; although Campbell is such an undisputed expert I want to know who else is writing, in ways that might speak more directly to me.
