florasin 's review for:
The Winter Knight
by Jes Battis
I almost didn't finish this one.
The story started out interesting, but I quickly found myself too distracted by the dialogue to care. So much of it makes references to pop culture. It's immediately dated and also not actually useful in helping me learn more about the characters or world.
It's hard to understand how old anyone is because everyone talks like a Gilmore Girls obsessed teen. Everything has taken great pains to be inclusive, but all the mythology feels very white.
Anyway, I don't think this author writes for me and that's okay. I didn't hate this, I just didn't like it. I'll probably skip future works from them.
