This book is a coming-of-age novel in verse that does a few time jumps and covers a lot of issues with identity from family to sexuality to race. I wanted to appreciate it more than I did. Some parts were beautiful and I would really be enjoying the book, but then other parts felt disconnected and ground the pace to a halt to the point that it was a struggle to keep reading.
Moderate: Bullying, Drug use, Homophobia, Racism, Sexual content, and Alcohol
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Suicide, and Transphobia
