A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez

5.0

A Nameless Witch is a refreshing look at curses. The main character is cursed by a sorcerer named Nasty Larry. The result is that she is a type of undead.

This book is full of situational humor where the witch's familiar is a demon possessed duck and there's an animated broom that sweeps everything in its path. The author does a good job of having a distinctive voice for the main character/narrator. This novel is even paced and while there is some swash-buckling, it is more focused on a the magical properties of the witch. There's a lot of subtleness to that magic, though.
