This book is undoubtedly a masterpiece. The way Salinger seamlessly narrates Holden’s downward spiral in such an approachable way is fantastic. Loved it, adored it, every word on the list. The only thing missing was this undefinable quality the makes a book, especially a classic, really stick with you. Maybe it’s Holden’s simplistic storytelling or the fact that I read this for school, but this book just didn’t hold that quality for me. This undeniably a good read that will have you in awe of the author, but I won’t be up at night pondering it.
