Dare Me by Megan Abbott

3.0

Imagine if Legs in Foxfire had been an evil, psychopath cheerleader, and her darling Maddy had gotten too close with the Coach and Legs got angry. Throw in murder mystery, and you have Dare Me. Tough, nasty, strong and skinny, these girls would certainly please Sue Sylvester.

While the book does have lovely, literary and lyrical language, this tale is plot-based and the plot fell flat. It's really a whodunit and might have been more successful if it had dwelled more in the characters. It was enjoyable to read, but the end was a real disappointment.
