Wow this book definitely surprised me. I went into this knowing the author typically wrote only new adult romances and the first few chapters seemed in line with her typical novel. But then the plot really started moving and we start seeing the expanse of the world she's created. If not for anything else, read this novel for the incredible world it takes place in. While the story and plot itself may not be all that unique, the world-creation Carmack does more than makes up for it.
