This was a fun ride. I expected to get annoyed by Kvothe at some point -- he is consistently, almost effortlessly good at pretty much everything -- but I found I just liked him. The framing helps, I think. We know from the beginning that we're about to listen to the story of a remarkable individual, so when he repeatedly succeeds in remarkable ways, it's simply as advertised.

The magic system is interesting without being overly complicated, and every word of prose is beautifully deliberate.
