The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas
4.0

This is another classic that I read for the first time in high school and revisited this summer in preparation to see a stage adaptation. During this summer's reading, I was struck by the jokes and the humor Dumas includes throughout - it actually is quite funny. Some of the action, especially in the first half seems to run around itself without a real end goal in sight, which can make the first half a bit tedious, but once the reader (or, "dear reader," as Dumas is wont to call us) puts all the characters and the action together, it becomes a dazzling adventure. I read the last 200 hundred pages in just a couple days, compared to the first half which took me over a month due due to a slight disinterest.
Overall, well worth reading and well worth reading again if you, like me, first visited this novel as a high school sophomore.
