My Wild Garden: Notes from a Writer's Eden
by Meir Shalev
For me, this was a sipping book, not a gulping one. Each chapter was a sweet taste of wild gardening, life, humor, language, history, family, and religion. His climate in Israel is similar to mine in the Sacramento Valley. We both have lemon and pomegranate trees, and I was delighted with his insights. This book with its lovely illustrations has earned a spot on my shelves.
My first act after finishing the book was to see what Shalev had to say about the current conflict, and I sadly realized he passed away in April of 2023. I hope his garden continues to flourish and his memory is cherished.
