The writing was a bit "too YA" at times. The story itself was fine, the characters were fine, the setting was fine—it just wasn't anything mind blowing. Maybe it's because I've never been really that into Mecha but it wasn't my cup of tea. Might still read the sequel if I happen to wonder what comes next.
