Red Rising meets The Hunger Games in Sara Wolf's heart-pounding novel.

Synali is the bastard daughter of the duke of powerful House Hauteclare. She watched her mom died but somehow survived, and now she's just killed her dad. Synali wants nothing more than to see the noble houses burn for all the suffering they've caused to the poor. Her escapades lead to an alliance with a mysterious man who wants her to ride an old, infamous machine in a jousting tournament against the most powerful in the system. In order to survive, Synali has to rely on the very people she's despised her entire life and even take advice from a young rider who piques her interest.

So many aspects of this novel intrigued me. The political system, the lore of the War from centuries ago, and the relationship between Synali and her mentor.

Most of the time, I was confused, but once I understood the storytelling style and the world better, I was hooked.  I loved buddy reading Heavenbreaker with some of my friends--it made the experience even more enjoyable.
