Bournville by Jonathan Coe
2.0

This book wasn’t for me; I found it quite dull though as it was an easy read I did preserve. The historical aspects gave it an interesting element as everything related back to a true moment in time but ultimately I found it arduous and boring. The real life events seemed more important than the characters or plot, and personally I didn’t enjoy the COVID aspect. Even though it’s been three years since the first lockdown, I don’t particularly like reading about lockdowns or social distancing as it was a difficult time and one I’d rather not relive. I would prefer to suspend my belief around that time, which is my own personal preference. I didn’t think any of the characters were particularly likeable either.
