An American Sunrise by Joy Harjo

This collection pays homage to Harjo's ancestors who traveled the Trail of Tears. Through poems, short passages, and historical anecdotes, Harjo talks of (and to) her spiritual grandfather, Monawee, as well as aunts, uncles, and other relatives. The two poems that I enjoyed most were: Song 4-Siox-Soldier-Sold, and Honoring.
Let's honor the maker.
Let's honor what's made.
