don't mind me just sitting here with the remnants of my exploded brain because this was such a ✨dark✨ book and i wasn't sure how it could top [b:Requiem of the Soul|57194921|Requiem of the Soul (The Society Trilogy, #1)|Natasha Knight|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1614781181l/57194921._SX50_.jpg|88562616] but it did and now I'm hating myself because i have to wait for the last book???? gah i HATE love trilogies <3

WHERE DO I EVEN FUCKING START WITH THIS BOOK?

so we know from the last book santiago was given the kiss of death by what he and everyone else assumes to be ivy. he was poisoned and ivy was captured by his friend judge, who held her in a cell whilst santi recovered in hospital, but when he awoke his vengeance came out in full force because he obviously felt betrayed, especially when he was lowkey/highkey feeling so much for ivy.

my poor girl ivy in the meantime is clueless, no one is telling her whether santi lived or died, until he comes for her himself and this is when the darkness is ramped up because the way he messed with ivy's head and feelings? whewwww i loved it idc if that makes me sick but just read this y'all:

❝ My wife will die by my hand. As sure as the sun will rise, I will spit on her grave once I've wrung every last ounce of life from her body.❞

go off santi! have your lil fantasies cos i know your ass ain't touching ivy.

the push and pull, their hate-fuelled lust, the constant battle in santi's head on his feelings for ivy... i fricking wanted to bash santiago's head in LIKE IVY IS INNOCENT MY GUY!!! this book had it's uncomfy, emotional, and downright psychopathic moments (all I'll say is the tattoo scene... jheezeeee i don't think i breathed reading that chapter)

i loved ivy, she was still her naive and innocent self no matter how far santi pushed her to limits, she fought, but ultimately she fell for a monster and when you fall for a bad guy, the bad is what you choose to accept. this cliffhanger, as painful as it was is worth it because i just know the last book will finish me.

ps. this is my first ever arc review, i requested the second book because i LOVED the first book so much i literally couldn't wait the extra 2 weeks to get it sjssjkjdsj
