This book was intriguing. There is definitely a slow burn aspect to it that was a bit too slow in the beginning, but the buildup is worth it. I do wish the horror aspects started earlier—I felt it was a little too lacking in the horror realm for the first third of the book. I want to know what happens after the book ends, but it makes sense the way it was written considering you probably wouldn’t finish a diary if you’ve gone away to live (or die?) in the woods with your monster lover . Loved the various mysteries in the book, and enjoyed the direction things went in.
