We're Not Broken: Changing the Autism Conversation
by Eric Garcia
Thoughts
This was a really good addition to my reading on Autism. The author is Autistic and has personal insight even though this is a fact based book. He is a journalist and it shows in the way the book is written. However, he does add some personal stories in as well.
This one dealt mainly with the politics around being Autistic and how the government and organizations try to frame it.
What I have loved about the books I have read from people who are actually Autistic is that they show all sides. And they show how all people on the spectrum exist in this world, happily. Because just like all other disabilities, it isn't Autism that's the issue it is the lack of accommodations.
I listened to this on audio but I'll be getting a copy for my shelves for sure.
