Sylvia Plath creates such an interesting exploration of what depression, mental illness, and suicide look like. She is unapologetic about her writing and mixes such darkness with beautiful writing. I must say The Bell Jar has become one of my favorite books.
Graphic: Mental illness, Suicidal thoughts, and Suicide attempt
Moderate: Misogyny, Rape, and Suicide
Minor: Racial slurs, Sexual content, and Death of parent
