The Story of a New Name
by Elena Ferrante
Ferrante writes about female friendships with so much clarity and honesty it almost hurts. But I found myself thinking of womanhood in general while reading this. The expectations of our families and society, to get married, have children, but also study and be successful, and if we ever feel trapped by all that, to suck it up and get through it anyway. Mostly, I guess, we do.
