Some people will reference the colonialism aspect of the white teacher going to teach an indigenous population. But this takes place in the 1940s, so I didn't find that an issue. I think this book is aspirational for new teachers. The beauty of meeting intrinsic needs and reaching students with interest-based learning is educational pedagogy at its finest.
