4/5 stars!

I read this book for Contemporary-a-Thon to fulfill the prompt "Beloved by Another Booktuber" so shout out to Heathur.

I really enjoyed a lot of aspects of this book. The discussion on religions and acceptance was really amazing. I loved how diverse the group of friends was in their beliefs and identities, it showed that it is possible to respect each in that sense without completely agreeing.

I liked how unlikeable Michael was at times and how I found myself seeing his side and the side of the person/people he was disagreeing with throughout the whole novel. It really made me think and I never had a conclusive thought on who I thought was right. The family stuff touched in this book was some of the most realistic I've seen in a YA book and I loved it.

What I didn't really care for was the romance. I liked their dynamic and their friendship and what they could teach each other, but I felt like the learning/development was a little too one sided for my taste. I kinda wish they would have just been friends instead of anything more.

Overall, I really liked this book. It was thought provoking, short, and funny.
