While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory
4.0

I cannot overstate how much I enjoy these books! Jasmine Guillory has truly created the best cast of characters and Janina Edwards once again knocks it out of the park with her narration. For those that don't know, Guillory's series moves through main characters so a side character of one novel becomes the main character in the next etc. This time around we have Ben Stephens, the younger brother of Theo who pops up both as Alexa's co-worker in The Wedding Date and as the major love interest in The Wedding Party. Ben was known as the unpredictable kid brother but now gets fully fleshed out as a caring man who is making his way to the top of the advertising world. He connects with Anna at a pitch meeting. Anna is a celebrity who on the brink of the A list and her next Oscar nom. The two hit it off and once Ben helps Anna through a family emergency, they begin "fake" dating for the press... only things go too far.

I think my favorite thing about this new Guillory installment is that is doesn't have the usual miscommunication/misunderstanding annoying moment when both love interests are being silly and frustrating. There is some tension but at the expense of honesty and boldness which I relished. Anna and Ben are a fun pairing and Janina Edwards once again voices them so spot on. I don't know how she is able to give individual souls to each of her characters but I swear she is magic! I immediately recognize her voice but 10 seconds later, it's like she morphs into the book and the characters and the only people she can be ever is Anna and Ben.

This is not a series you have to read in order (though it does add a whole other level of character development if you do) and is PERFECT for fans of light romance with a side of realism - discussion of topics like race and mental health.
