The Perfect Game
by J. Sterling
Cassie, a new transfer, meets her college's baseball star Jack Carter and catches his attention. After an initial hesitation, they start dating and deal with the issues that surround college athletes during the process of going pro.
Here are my issues with the books—
-The BIGGEST problem first....
-Again, I didn't feel a connection with Cassie. I've had this issue with all three of her books and while Cassie was definitely the most developed of her female leads, she still seemed a little one-dimensional. Which makes it hard to believe that Jack Carter would fall head-over-heels for her. Their initial banter was good, but it seemed to fizzle out as they started dating.
-Melissa, Cassie's roommate, deserves more of a story.
The best parts about this book—
-The initial banter between Jack and Cassie was gold. I could've read it for many more chapters, had Cassie held out a little longer. It was definitely a highlight of the book.
-The process of Jack moving up in the baseball world was pretty good.
-I was glad Cassie went to NY and didn't just stay because Jack came back. She needed to be there, I'm glad she was smart enough to realize it.
-The ending was cute, I definitely melted a little during the last few chapters.
This book was definitely J.Sterling's best—I've read her first books and they don't hold a candle to the execution of this book! I would definitely read this one again. I can't wait for her next book The Game Changer!

Spoiler
There is no way that any athlete would NOT get a paternity test. The fact Jack would marry that bar skank without a paternity test is insane. I don't like it when plot twists are introduced only to fizzle out in a few chapters. This one seemed pointless to me, just to keep Jack and Cassie apart.-Again, I didn't feel a connection with Cassie. Who thought she'd end up with Dean? I thought that's where the book was headed at points, I'm disappointed they didn't end up together! The best parts about this book—

Although I didn't like where the plot line went, I was glad Jack actually slept with Chrystle. It was the first time one of J.Sterling's male leads actually made a mistake and didn't stay at home pining for the girl.-I was glad Cassie went to NY and didn't just stay because Jack came back.
