Vanishing Acts
by Jodi Picoult
I'm reading this on an "mp3" book that I borrowed ("Playaway") from the Asheville library - seriously the coolest thing I have seen in a LONG time. A tiny little piece of plastic you just plug headphones into and stick in your pocket..neat-o!
This book was mega-melodramatic, lacked surprise, and the characters were flimsy and unlikable. And the jail scenes? WAY WAY WAY over the top. Too philosophical about what makes us "who we are," about "truth," etc.
Delia was really just too whiny and pathetic. Simply NOT Picoult's best. SO didn't need to be as long as it was, either. Oh, the rambling, the weak prose, the silly dialogue...
