How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran
5.0

Oh, I enjoyed this book so much! Following three-four years in the life of teenage Johanna Morrigan, "How to Build a Girl" is about what it's like to grow up in social housing in the small English town of Wolverhampton. Johanna is trapped by her poor background, but she's got her imagination and writing as a way out.

I loved Johanna's family life, tough as it was, her family was full of love. She eventually gets a job writing as a music critic, and her adventures and escapades as she learns the ropes of what it means to be a young woman are both touching and wise. AND FUNNY! I don't often laugh out loud at books, but this one had me seriously laughing more than a few times. Loved it.
