"The human being is complex and I find the vile acts, contradictions and sublimities characteristic of our condition astonishing. Our existence would be an exasperating shade of grey of we were all flawless."

The way this book scared me...wow. It's about a world where animals contracted a virus and could no longer be eaten because the virus could be fatal to humans. And because there's still a demand for meat, the government allowed the breeding and processing of people as animals. Talk about MESSED UP! The lengths that people will go to just for selfish reasons is astounding and is such a pressing and not-so-distant reflection of where we are right now.

I ate this book up because of how chaotic the concept is. It's so unapologetically descriptive and disgusting that it's so engrossing.

If you're looking for some messed up shit to read that feels like a Black Mirror episode (minus the futuristic tech stuff), pick this up!
