The Names by Florence Knapp

challenging dark emotional sad medium-paced

5.0

This is my favourite book this year. Absolutely heartbreaking but such a well written book.  I read it in a day. I couldn’t put it down. Set initially in the 1980’s it follows a woman registering her son’s birth. It then comes back to the family every 7 years and looks at what might have happened to them had she chosen one of three names for him.  Such a clever and unique concept. It’s a book that will stay with me a long time.
