The Book of Elsewhere by China Miéville, Keanu Reeves
4.0
adventurous dark mysterious medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Character
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

If you’re a fan of Mieville, I highly recommend this book.  If you’re a fan of Reeves and picked up this book solely because of that, I’d venture to guess that you’ll be disappointed and/or frustrated by this novel.

The premises of this book is a classic,
we-tell-you-the-protagonist-is -bad-but-we-all-know-he’s-not
.  The development to get there is somewhat sporadic, at times it hums along and others it plods as if Neo is uploading into the matrix on dial up.  But if you like the language use and style of Mieville, and you’re used to wading through a bit of complexity, the payoff is worth it.
