A big thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for an arc of this book.
I utterly adored every moment of this book😭 I devoured it in two sittings.
The world building was fairly simple and easy to follow with three rivaling kingdoms and alliances in the works. I wish we learned more about the magic system because I don’t think we saw very much of it or truly know what’s possible and what’s not, but the foundations are there to expand upon it in the sequel.
The real highlight of this story was the romance and how things grow between Asher, Jory and Ky. If you’re looking for “I want to have two boyfriends, and I want those boyfriends to be boyfriends”, stop right there, because this is it to a T. This relationship is built from the ground up and the dynamics between the three of them are so complex and explored in a very captivating way.
I was giggling and kicking my feet, screaming and taking laps around my house every few pages. It was just such a fun story and great time. It was as if every bookish cliche was thrown together but done so in a very refreshing yet familiar way and I couldn’t get enough.
I’m already eagerly awaiting the sequel and will have to bit up more Brigid Kemmerer books in the meantime.
