Was pretty pumped to get into this one, definitely an anticipated read for me. It took me a good while to get through but that was probably partially due to circumstance. I think it was longer than it needed to be, like if it had been 70% of what it was it would have been perfect. I like that this book explored grief and abandonment, and moving past mistrust. It definitely went deeper than other Magnolia Parks books. It also gave me the ending I wanted, which is nice, but by then I just wanted to finish the book already so didn’t care as much as I would have if it had happened maybe 100 pages earlier. As usual, Jessa Hastings writing is beautiful and there are phrases she uses often which I adore, like for some reason I love it when they “sniff” at something, it’s just so cheeky. There was a quote towards the end about grief that absolutely broke my heart, Jessa’s writing absolutely carries me through these stories.
