Beware the faithless for whom duty is but an inconvenience. Better a single zealot than a thousand pragmatists who believe in nothing.

While Black Sun dealt with world introduction and motivations, Fevered Star sees the movement of the pieces on the board and the amassing of forces, alliances forming, and duplicitous actions being unearthed.
Roanhorse deftly and easily continues the layering of complexities and vulnerabilities of her characters; questioning of identity, qualities, and past actions.
Here is where Serapio and Naranpa can choose the path that will lead away and maybe back to each other, after all they are bound in an eternal strife for supremacy. This is a compelling narrative of selfhood and obligation, which of these is stronger and which will prevail.
