Females off all species are going extinct to the point where Females are taken from their homes and put up for auction. Our FMC Charlie was hidden by her parents but is captured during the raids and is purchased by three demons, Gray (who is obsessed with her), Silas (who is fairly indifferent but kind), and Aziel (who just wants her to stay out of his way). The Female follows their journey as Charlie comes to terms with her new reality and what is expected of her in her new role.

🔮 Why Choose
💙 "Age-Gap"
👿 Human x Demons
♀ Virgin FMC
(and MMC)

I picked this up because of @MaggieMaeBeReading 's recommendation saying it was good for fans of the Dramione fanfiction The Auction (now removed and being traditionally published). She was not wrong. The female tugged at my emotions more than I thought it was going to.

I really enjoyed watching the relationship between Silas and Gray as Gray tries to care for Charlie and Silas tries to coach Gray in his endeavors. I quickly fell for Gray's naive ideas of what it means to care for a human and how he goes out of his way to make her comfortable (even when he makes mistakes). I also liked seeing her grow more comfortable with herself- though it is a slow process.

I will say, I wanted more world building at the beginning. We meet Charlie when she is hiding as her parents have men over to visit and she tells us how she has been hidden because her family loves her and her father doesn't view women that way, etc. etc. But she is taken before we can really care about her family or their efforts in hiding her. I wish we had seen a little more development into the first 25 years of her life.

I also wasn't sold on Aziel. I liked seeing the smaller moments between him and Gray, but I wanted to see more of his relationship with Silas and how the three of them were able to form this unified found family.

That being said- I am jumping straight into reading Her Males.

Resonant Quotes:
He’d rather die than hurt my mom or me, but I fear that men like him don’t exist anymore.

The human government doesn’t approve the purchasing of women until they’re well into adulthood—usually in their early twenties. They say it’s because they care for us, but we all know they just want extra time to mold us into docile, rule-obeying women. Females who don’t scream and fight go for a higher price.

I wonder if they can see the tears streaming down my cheeks and dripping onto my collarbones. If they do, I doubt they care. This is fun for them—the worst day of my life considered the opportunity of a lifetime for them.

Men who treat women like property are dangerous.

Also this gem:
Aziel may not like me, and I may be scared shitless of him, but if we’re going to live together, one of us needs to put in the effort to be cordial. I thought it would be the older-than-dirt demon, but leave it to the twenty-five-year-old human to be the bigger person.
