The Reckless Afterlife of Harriet Stoker by Lauren James

1.0

In all honesty, this is a shitty book. The idea was really cool and I wanted to get into it so badly. I like it when the main character is likeable, but Harriet is simply horrible. The author tries to justify her deeds by eventually explaining her background, but it is so badly done that it doesn’t help. The other bad guys are also badly written. A good bad guy is someone that at least had a good reason for being bad and these characters where simply bad because why not? The constant explaining of the plot “twists” was badly executed and the last hundred pages of the book made me want to throw it through the room. The beginning is okay but the ending felt rushed and so horrible that I can do nothing else than give this book 1 star.
