The King's Men by Nora Sakavic

4.0

The King's Men is the conclusion to the All for the Game series. After spending time at Edgar Allen being beaten and trained with the Ravens, Neil has returned to his Foxes, and is worse for wear. But his efforts have paid off, and Andrew returns from rehab, and the Foxes can officially focus on the spring portion of their season. But Neil is potentially in more trouble than he planned, and may have more than Riko to worry about. Will he survive the rest of the season, or will his past catch up to him before he planned?

This was probably my favorite out of the whole trilogy. As Neil begins feeling like he belongs with the Foxes, we begin seeing the potential he has for a longer life than just the rest of the season. With the looming feeling of dread Neil has of his father being released from prison and having to go on the run again there is a sense of softness that comes out of him, especially when he thinks about a certain Fox ;) Seeing Neil grow and change with his time with the Foxes is so heartwarming and precious.

The events that take place in the story are thrilling as well, though a little bit unbelievable at times, which centered around the main events that happened, which is why I can't bring myself to give it 5 stars. I don't want to give any major spoilers, but the somewhat far-fetched, almost easy way out of things kind of pulled me out of my investment in the story.

I would definitely recommend this trilogy regardless because the story itself is more about the growth of the characters and lets you into the lives of those that have dark pasts but have and are pulling themselves through it. It's a story of love, of learning to trust, and realizing that some things shouldn't stay hidden in the dark to be dealt with alone.
