A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson

5.0

Originally, I gave it just 4 stars, mostly because it was written for the US market and the data are a jumbled mess - many are given in the idiotic imperial scales, some in metric, some in both. It feels inconsistent and made it hard to conceptualize some relationships.

And of course, given the subjects in this book and the fact that it's well over a decade old now, the information sometimes seems a bit outdated.

Nevertheless, it's a great read and gives a well-presented, well-organized overview of nearly everything.
