The Alien's Mail-Order Bride by Ruby Dixon

3.5

#0.25 The Alien's Mail-Order Bride: ★★★✮☆ | 3.5 stars

This was a great little short story set in the Risdaverse. Emvor sends off for a mail-order bride hoping to find someone to help him work on his farm, and maybe help stave on some of the loneliness of his life. What he gets instead of a strong, sturdy partner, is a small, delicate human looking for refuge. Though Nicola is the exact opposite of what he was looking for, Emvor finds out that she may be exactly what he needs.

Three Thoughts:
1. Emvor trying to avoid anyone who knows in public so he's not forced to have a conversation was super relatable for my introverted self.
2. I'm with Emvor regarding Lady Leandra. Not really a fan.
3. I really wish we would have gotten an epilogue of them a bit into the future. I wanted to see them enjoying their quiet lives together.

Is this ground-breaking? No. But, it was sweet and fun, and I'm glad I read it. Even though it's part of a series, it definitely stands on its own.
