Finished this book in about 24 hours (lol) and really enjoyed how fast paced it was! Feeling an initial rating immediately post review but may shift as I continue to think about it. Overall really enjoyed the satire and unreliable narrator (really reminded me of I’m a Fan) as well as watching her spiral. The exploration of the complex relationship between June and Athena was particularly interesting to me, especially that they are not meant to be likeable. There are no real heroes here but it was so intriguing to get a perspective of power plays within the publishing industry and how much catering to white audiences still happens. Personally I didn’t mind the more straightforward writing style here although it was clear how much of this must have been inspired by personal experiences. So gripping - I hope someone actually does make a movie of this book!
