Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

5.0

WOW! What a book! As my neighbor says, that book left me “shooketh!!” I gasped at the third to last page of the book. So much action! Unexpected twists and turns! It’s just so... black! And I loved it. With a YA genre full of white protagonists and antagonists, it was refreshing to read about people from a culture that I relate to. I wish that 10 or 12 year-old me had a book that made me feel the way I feel about this book. So many feels! All of the feels! Even the Author’s Notes tugged at my heartstrings. Eric Garner had his life taken from him literally a block away from my childhood home, so it meant the world to me for Tomi Adeyemi to acknowledge the many black souls taken from us way too soon. Can’t wait for the movie and the sequel.
