I’m so disappointed in this. I truly thought this would end up being a 5 star read, given that it’s a 1980’s crime-thriller following a female private investigator, but it really did fall flat for me. My biggest problem was that I had trouble keeping up with the characters. Every time I picked this up, it was like I had to refresh myself on who was who each time, and in the end I had just given up. There was also quite a lot of fatphobia in this book, which was awful to read as a woman who’s not petite in the slightest. As well as some very strange comments being made about a 12 year old boy which almost had me put down the book for good. I think this had potential in the beginning, but as I read on I liked it less and less.
