⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4/5)

I loved the main characters in Yours Truly. Jacob and Briana felt mature, relatable, and refreshingly grown-up — exactly what I’ve been looking for lately instead of the endless twenty-something “still figuring it out” romances. The humor was great, the animals were adorable, and I appreciated the diversity in the cast. I’m also a sucker for a good second-chance-style story, especially when it ends on a high note.

The only part that pulled me out a bit was Briana’s big emotional fallout toward the end. I know trauma responses are complex, but for 75–80% of the book she was steady, supportive, and seemed to truly understand Jacob — she recognized how different he was from her ex. So it felt a little extreme and out of character when she
suddenly decided he was destined to hurt her like every man before.
The conflict resolved quickly after that, which made the reaction feel even more abrupt in hindsight.

On the audiobook — the narrators were fantastic. Their tone and inflection brought the characters to life, and I loved how naturally they slipped into Jacob and Briana’s voices. The emotional beats felt authentic, and it made the story even more enjoyable.

That said, Abby Jimenez writes slow burns with so much heart, and this was no exception. The ending still left me smiling, and I’d recommend this to anyone who loves mature characters, witty banter, and romance that takes its time.
