The Other Significant Others: Reimagining Life with Friendship at the Center by Rhaina Cohen

5.0

this was such a moving and enlightening read! at this point in my life, my primary relationships are with two close friends who are engaged. we do most things together and plan to live as a trio long term. it can be hard to explain that to people, and it can feel weird not to be following the set societal path of monogamous heterosexual relationships - both as a result of various identities (lesbian, asexual) as well as choices around relationships (friendships rather than romantic coupling). but can also absolutely be a beautiful and enriching way to experience life! I felt really seen by this book, and learned a lot about ways people approach partnerships, co parenting relationships, and getting through life in different ways, legally, practically, and emotionally.
