This is not the typical genre I would pick, but I read it for a buddy read. This historical fiction takes place around the time of the Sri Lankan civil war and was translated to English. While the story is moving and sad, I felt like I was missing a big part since I was no familiar with this time period or the slang used. 
If you're into historical fiction I'm sure you would find it more enjoyable than I did, but overall it was a nice, reflective read!
