Broken Stars: Contemporary Chinese Science Fiction in Translation by Ken Liu

4.0

As with any anthology, there were stories in Broken Stars I really enjoyed and others I didn't really care for. Overall, I found the stories challenged my perceptions of what science fiction is and were generally entertaining. The essays at the end provided some useful context for the state of science fiction in China.

Some of my favorites of the bunch were Baoshu's "What Has Passed Shall in Kinder Light Appear," Ma Boyong's "The First Emperor's Games," and Regina Kanyu Wang's "The Brain Box."
